The Swiss stone pine belongs to the botanical family of pines. It can live up to 1000 years. The appearance of adult trees is unmistakalbe. The wood of the Swiss stone pine is relatively light and the dark branches give it its characteristic lively grain.
Wood with character
The frost resistance and lifelike toughness of Swiss stone pine (Arve) are well-known properties. The tree can withstand temperatures down to -40° C. At the same time it is dry resistant and its branches can survive for over a month without water.
The stone pine has a high resin content and various substances contained in it make the stone pine wood resistant to moths, insects, fungi and rot.
